Anonymous asked: two minor quibbles: some trans men do have PIV sex with men and I bet a lot of genderqueer people do too. not all lesbians are cis, so only the cis lesbians can be grouped under the category cis women.
Hello Anonymous, feel free to take off your coat and stay awhile. I don’t bite!
That being said, I agree with both your points. Not all lesbians are cis, and some trans* men do engage in PIV sex with men, as do genderqueers.
But that isn’t the point of the issue, is it?
Trans* lesbians do not have the appropriate anatomy to conceive, and consequently, don’t really have much of a stake in the debate about abortion. They, like other women who cannot conceive for reasons of biology, are basically allies in the fight—but not really centered in the debate, nor should they be.
Likewise, the fact that lesbians, as a general rule, abstain from PIV sex and consequently are at a correspondingly low ‘risk’ for pregnancy/abortion means that really, the debate isn’t about us, either. That’s totally okay, as it so happens, since not everything can be about everyone always.
Hopefully that cleared up my position a bit for you?
