Horrifying Experience
You guys will not believe what happened today.
I just joined a new support group. Today was the first day. During introductions, the leader of the group asked me what my preferred pronouns were, and I said “male pronouns”. Sounds like a great guy, right? Yeah. That’s what I thought, too.
Later on in the group, I was sharing the struggle I am going through with my completely unsupportive parents. When I was finished, the group leader said, “Hey man, we’re all here for you.”

Are you as shocked as I was?
This is the leader of a trans* support group, and here he is assuming that JUST BECAUSE I use masculine pronouns means I want to be seen as a guy and called “man”. The experience made me feel extremely dysphoric and I left the group crying.
People need to get educated and stop being so ignorant.
Would you assume that just because someone goes to a mosque to pray every day, they are muslim?
Would you assume that just because someone was born in China, they want to be seen as “asian”?
Would you assume that just because someone is a guy who is attracted to only guys, they identify as gay?

Of course not. Society can’t keep boxing us in to the binary! We need to show them that our identities are more than just our pronouns, or our appearance. Reblog this story if you are NON-BINARY AND PROUD!
You do realize that this makes you look like a child that got a great big slice of cake, and then threw it on the floor. An assumption like that isn’t exactly a great leap of logic and you didn’t specify otherwise, so the only “crime” here is ignorance. Holy shit you are spoiled.
So basically, the TL;DR version is:
“Someone did exactly as I asked them to. I’M SO OPPRESSED”.
That attitude is why so many people don’t take trans* issues seriously. People like this basically turn themselves into punchlines.
