Instead of fleshing out the real reasons why she is angry, you simply shoot her belongings? Really? Say goodbye to any sort of healthy communication whatsoever.

Let’s also consider the fact that a personal computer is becoming increasingly vital to a person’s education in this day and age. He’s just set her back in a ridiculous number of ways. Remember actually having to write reports out by hand and editing in pen? I’m sure a lot of you don’t, so just imagine it for a minute.

Notepad alone is leaps and bounds ahead of that in terms of speed. Also the huge number of resources available to an internet connected computer such as wikipedia, online dictionaries, news feeds, and any other number of things speed up the process just as much. That petulant manchild just severed this girl’s tie to the modern age. Good luck with her education now you abusive, trigger-happy redneck.

She’s in high school, not university, so a laptop isn’t as utterly necessary. Not to mention, there are tons of people who get by just fine without a laptop. They make do.

She did something she’d been asked not to do, got caught, and now has to deal with the consequences of her actions.
If she wants a laptop, she’s 15/16, she can go do what 15/16 year olds do, and get a job, and save up her money and Get Her Own Laptop. At which point, it’s her property.
Let’s do the math:
She’s 16, which assumes minimal fiscal responsibilities. A starter laptop is, we’ll say, $500, tax inc. Assuming a minimum wage of $10.00/hr, that’s 50 hours worth of work. Assuming she works about 12.5 hours of work a week (which is NOTHING),
she can buy herself a new laptop in about two paycheques. So you’ll excuse me if I’m not precisely crying in a corner over this kid’s fate.

So, for that whole month she’s without her own PERSONAL laptop (because her Dad’s in IT, you wanna tell me there’s not a ‘work/school’ computer kicking around the house that she can do her homework on whilst supervised?), she’ll just have deal with it, and USE THE LIBRARY COMPUTERS like a kid who doesn’t have her own laptop, and use an IRL dictionary and talk to her friends at school and hang out in person and not on facebook and ohgod however will she live?
