The Unpopular Opinions of a Post-Modern Prep

The appropriately inappropriate opinions of a post-modern prep. All the news that's fit to print, and some things that aren't. This tumblr will address hypocrisy in all its flavours. I will be brutal in doing so.

from this father’s message to his daughter

That guy had every right to do that to that laptop. FIVE STARS FOR THE BEST OLD SCHOOL DAD…he could’ve sold it to get back the money he used for the software he used on it before finding that post but thats not the point.
The point is that all you kids who have ipods/iphones, laptops, consoles, and flat screens that are from your parents be greatful.
IT DOES NOT FUCKING HURT TO DO CHORES AROUND THE FUCKIN’ HOUSE[That your parents most likley PAYING FOR]. SHIT! I Love my mama ad she was already working like 2 jobs! I PAYED FOR MY OWN FUCKING PS2 BY WORKING ODD JOBS AT THE AGE OF 12. saving my own lunch money too. Then when my mom finally got me my first iPod[the fucking small ass shuffle] YOU BEST BELIEVE I DID CHORES LIKE A MUTHUHFUCKUH!
So next time you talk shit about your parents THINK AGAIn and remember ALL THE SHIT that they payed for because YOU wanted it……spoiled lil shits…..
DAMN….Cant stand spoiled people…

If he believes this was the right thing to do, I support it. Children have become spoiled and sometimes need some hard lessons to learn from.

I love how some people disagree with him and say now the girl is going to have a horrible future . Check his FB he not only is giving mature responses to the media , but the publicity is helping her get into a good college and their relationship is getting stronger , so if you disagree with him you’re just completely  wrong .

But why shoot the damn thing? He could’ve just reformatted that shit and sold it second hand or even just given it over to a college student. Shooting it just seems… really excessive.
I don’t know I just don’t like seeing useful and/or expensive things go to waste even if it’s to make a point.

The only thing I disagree with is shooting the laptop— like mentioned above, that seems really un-necessary. Those things are expensive, and that could have gone to a better use. :/

As stupid. As stupid and idiotic and cliche as it sounds, when tough parents (not abusive, TOUGH) tell you “Someday you’ll thank me for this.” you will. Which is exactly what I did on my high school graduation. If I did poorly in school, my parents would get me where it hurt. Psychologically. Taking away things I loved for months at a time. It. Worked. I learned to appreciate and be thankful for everything in life. I learned to work hard for what I now have today, and I learned respect to authority.
Being spoiled, sadly, can be considered a learned trait picked up growing up with everything provided for you can have this kind of effect, and often times the parents don’t notice it until later on, because parents just want to offer them a better life than they did or whatever. But it is never too late to keep your kid in line.
We need more parents who have the testicular fortitude to do this kind of shit, because from how I see people my age and people younger than me treat their parents, teachers, and other forms of authortity, I often times want to slap them upside the head myself.
I’m 18 and I still get smacked around, and I always deserve it because if I treat my parents with respect and obey them, my parents are the coolest motherfuckers out there. However I would guess this parent to be against hitting and took and even better approach. The psychological one. That little shithead daughter of his deserves every little thing coming to her, and this. This is parenting done right. Parents have every right to know what their kids are doing online and parents have the right to discipline them for this kind of shit.
Posts I’m seeing in response is that this father obviously has issues or that he is not sitting down with his daughter to fill out applications or whatever.
How. Fucking. Hard is it to fill out applications. He is letting her stay at home with a family and all he asks is for her to step out and fend for herself with a measly application. I was her age when I filled out my college paperwork, fafsa, and scholarship papers all by myself. I struggled. I had to learn on my own and here I am today.
Family counseling is NOT needed with an approach like this. The father took this in a way the daughter would understand.
I applaud this man. This is the kind of parent I hope to be one day.

i wish this guy was my dad :o(

I honestly wish this was my dad, too.

i laughed a little too hard :B

I had to watch the GIF loop for a good 10 minutes to see what I thought was a water pistol is a legit gun
haha

I’m sorry but I am going to have to defend the girl.
Ok. So she got pissed off. So she wrote an angry post. Most people used to do that. Freak probably everyone has. But most people simply write it in a diary or a journal.
She posted it for the world and got hell, yes she was stupid. But seriously, all of us are allowed to be angry once in a while.

The way I see it is: If she’s enough of a Little Miss Bad Ass to write a post and publish it on Facebook (of all fucking places), then she should be bad ass enough to accept the consequences of her actions. If you’re gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough, and right now, all I see is him calling her bluff. Simple as that. Anyways, what she said was hurtful as hell. Let’s not forget how her father found out about that facebook post—he was doing her a favour, uploading an $130.00 dollar programme (that you KNOW she didn’t buy herself) onto her laptop. He found a post saying that she wasn’t going to fucking wipe their asses when they were old, etc etc (because, what, they made her do chores?) Everyone’s allowed to rant, but most of us have enough foresight to see it where the people who we’re ranting about won’t read it. She’ll learn two valuable lessons from all this, if nothing else: One: Passive-aggressive post-it-on-FB bullshit has IRL consequences and Two: Next time, log out of your account.
