The Unpopular Opinions of a Post-Modern Prep

The appropriately inappropriate opinions of a post-modern prep. All the news that's fit to print, and some things that aren't. This tumblr will address hypocrisy in all its flavours. I will be brutal in doing so.

The Unpopular Opinions of a Post-Modern Prep: I dont like rap and it has nothing to do with race.

it’s pretty damn homophobic and it’s pretty misogynistic and I don’t like my music telling me that I can *beep* that *beep* up and *beep* the *beep* *beep*. Half the time, so many words are *beeeped* out that I can barely tell what they’re *beeping* saying.

.. you haven’t experienced much rap/r&b, have you? Just sit the fuck down. If you think that rap music as a genre has no substance or value, your opinion doesn’t matter anyway.

As a matter of fact, I have. Which would be why I feel completely capable of making the assertion that I do. not. enjoy. rap.
I find it misogynistic and discriminating, and completely homophobic.

You are an idiot. A complete and total idiot. You have not listened to all hip-hop. I find you to be a racist at worst, or an ignorant tool at best. Rock music is equally misogynistic and homophobic, as is country. And like those two genres, there are artists who are not homophobic, not misogynistic, and quite opposed to the two, but it’s convenient for you to ignore that fact so that you can continue to paint black people as misogynistic and homophobic without actually saying those words.

And you’re a reactionary ass, but let’s not get too technical here.
You’re right, I haven’t listened to all hip-hop (have you?), but I’ve listened to enough to draw an educated conclusion and that conclusion is: I do not enjoy rap, because I find it misogynistic and homophobic.
Or are you going to tell me that I’m misinterpreting the lyrics because I’m trying to read more into it? Please, do try to tell me that Royce Da 5’9 rapping about how his rhymes are tighter than the snatch of a fat dyke is an expression of his sensitivity as an artist, and that it’s all metaphor.

I have never argued that rock and country music aren’t misogynistic. I would agree. However, it’s generally good practice to clean your own house before pointing out the mess of others, and seeing as how I have nothing invested in ANY of those musical forms, I’m going to say that as a general rule, rap is more aggressively homophobic than either of those two genres.

And I think it’s especially cute that you’re trying to paint me as a racist because I take umbrage with a musical genre that goes out of its way to belittle and demean my very existence.
