I hate Christian funerals.

Hate them. People don’t die for a reason. It’s not a part of some gods plan. That’s not comforting. What’s comforting about a god who plans death? Death sucks and it’s not for the greater good of anything. It’s just death. It’s not positive. There’s no reason or plan behind any of it.

Funerals are not about the dead, they’re about the living.
That’s a fact. The dead do not care what happens because they are, pretty self-evidently, dead. The ceremonies and the rituals and the grieving—that’s for the people who are left behind.

Who are you to tell someone how to grieve? If it makes the living—the people who are in pain and grieving—feel better, then let them have their rituals. If it helps them have closure and come to terms with their loss, then so be it.

It is neither your right nor your place to pass judgement on the grieving rituals of others, and frankly, it’s tasteless that you’d even attempt to do so.
If you don’t like Christian funerals, the answer is simple. Don’t have one.
